Imagining Heaven

Today I had quiet time with Mom (aka "devotions") and as normal, I read her the reading from THE DAILY BREAD for today. It was from John 14: 1-6 Read it for yourself. It was a pretty timely reading! It was called IMAGINE!

John 14:1-6 (New International Version)

John 14
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going."
Jesus the Way to the Father
5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I like the Quiet Times that I have been spending with Mom. This Scripture is one that is so commonly heard in churches, and especially at funerals. John 14, Jesus tries to calm their fears it seems. He tries to tell them - don't worry... trust me on this!! Follow me because I AM THE WAY!!! I wonder what his disciples were thinking. I wonder what I would have thought if I had been in the circle there. I know that now - this scripture brings me peace and comfort. I believe that Jesus Christ IS the Son of God and died for my sin, rose again, and lives with the Father... and because of His love and his death and resurrection - I have been redeemed!!

Forgiven. Washed Clean. Covered by Grace!! O Lord, thank you for this day - for the Word that we read together this morning, mom and I. Thank you for the assurance that you have forgiven us and will take us to live with you. Jesus... thank - you ...

This morning, the reading in the little devotional booklet, mentioned the song by MercyMe called... I can only imagine!

I will never forget the day I first heard this song...

One time I preached, and played this song at the end, for the congregation (Music Video).

Today - this song truly speaks to my heart because really - I CAN only imagine!

This song has a special meaning for our family too. Our niece sung it at her uncle's funeral. John's younger brother, Vic, died at age 45 of lung cancer. It took him in 6 months. He became a believer before his death. Praise God~ Now every time I hear this song, I can only imagine too. Dorothy W
